EMERGENCY RESPONSE TO UK POLITICAL CRISIS
HOW DID WE GET HERE ?
|
Anyone who has thought it through will realise the UK is facing a constitutional crisis of unprecedented proportions. Brexit has been pushed through Parliament without the consent of at least 2 of the 4 nations which make up the United Kingdom (Scotland and Northern Ireland) and also very probably without the consent even of the majority of UK citizens aggregated as a whole. Notwithstanding many millions of people marching in protest, signing petitions and demanding a second referendum to check that Brexit is still the will of the majority of the people of the UK, it is now being enforced contrary to our will and also, contrary to right reason. How has this deplorable situation arisen ? And above all, what can we do about it ?
8 REASONS WE GOT INTO THIS MESS:
|
CHANGING THE UK CONSTITUTION
A BETTER, FAIRER AND WISER UNITED KINGDOMGiven that brexit is scheduled in its first phase to kick in on 31 January 2020, we now have until December 2020 to prevent a hard brexit and to make the necessary constitutional changes to prevent and if possible reverse this catastrophic course on which the Uk has been propelled by sinister and dark forces that stand against right reason and the constitutional safeguards that have so far brought our country through very dark days. Our proposition is that only major constitutional reform can prevent the break up of the UK in an acrimonious multiple divorce from which no one will ultimately benefit.
There have been individual voices already raised in favour of constitutional reform, and many millions of people have taken the lesson that brexit has exposed the shallowness of protections and safeguards available in the UK against what is effectively a right wing coup against our self interests as a nation and in favour of extremist racist delusional policies. We do not accept that we just have to accept it as a fait accompli. It is a right wing intelligence military style coup, no more and no less. Our hope is that by launching the CRI we can bring together all those disparate voices that are calling for change in the way the UK is run, to consider together what is the best way forward. |
